Key Responsibilities
- Own an assigned caseload of students, build supportive relationships, act as the primary academic contact for parents, understand individual learning goals, anticipate behavioural and developmental needs, and ensure delivery of agreed IEP objectives within defined timelines and support frameworks.
- Drive measurable student progress through differentiated instruction, targeted interventions, assistive strategies and inclusive classroom practices; prepare learning materials, adapt curriculum, track milestone achievements, and meet term and annual student performance targets plus development forecasting.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, school counsellors and leadership teams to translate student assessments into clear IEP plans, coordinate classroom accommodations, monitor implementation, and ensure timely, quality documentation and approvals.
- Monitor student performance, analyse academic and behavioural data, prepare weekly and term progress reports with actionable recommendations for parents and school leadership and developmental trend insights.
- Manage documentation, IEP compliance, safeguarding protocols and reporting standards; track review schedules, escalate concerns when necessary, and work with administration to ensure accurate student records and regulatory compliance and resource coordination.
- Resolve classroom or parent escalations promptly, coordinate internal support resources, propose practical intervention strategies, document outcomes, and follow up with root-cause analysis to prevent recurrence and maintain student wellbeing and family satisfaction.
- Represent the school at parent meetings, inclusion committees and professional development events, support admissions assessments when required, and contribute to building an inclusive school culture and best-practice intelligence.
Key Requirements
- 3+ years special education or SEN teaching experience in UAE or international school environments, preferably with exposure to diverse learning needs and inclusive classroom models.
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Education or a related field; teaching license and SEN certification preferred or equivalent demonstrable experience.
- Proficient with student information systems, IEP documentation platforms and MS Office tools for academic tracking and reporting skills.
- Proven classroom management and intervention skills: conducting assessments, designing IEPs, implementing differentiated instruction, behaviour management planning, progress tracking, and coordinating cross-functional support services and risk mitigation.
- Demonstrated leadership: mentoring teaching assistants, leading parent meetings, and supporting small inclusion teams and performance discussions.
- Strong professional acumen: safeguarding awareness, regulatory compliance, documentation standards, student progress measurement, and academic performance KPIs.
