Key Responsibilities
- Control Room Leadership: Lead and monitor nuclear reactor operations from the main control room, ensuring all settings stay within safe limits at all times.
- Startups & Shutdowns: Execute planned and unplanned reactor start-ups and shutdowns safely, following approved procedures and safety standards.
- Parameter Monitoring: Continuously watch reactor instruments, core conditions and system trends to detect anomalies early.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all operations follow UAE nuclear safety regulations and Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) certification requirements.
- Emergency Response: Respond rapidly to abnormal or emergency events using established protocols to protect personnel and equipment.
- Training & Mentoring: Train and mentor junior operators, sharing best practices and operational knowledge.
- Documentation & Reporting: Prepare accurate operational logs, incident reports and regulatory records for audits and reviews.
Requirements
- Experience: 5+ years in nuclear power plant operations with significant control room exposure.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related science.
- Technical Competence: Certified Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) or equivalent nuclear qualification per FANR standards.
- Project Controls: Able to manage shift duties, checklists, schedules and procedural compliance.
- Leadership: Strong communication and decision-making skills in high-pressure environments.
- Commercial Acumen: Understand how safe, efficient operations support energy goals and plant performance.
