Key Responsibilities
- As an Automotive Technician, you will carry out scheduled vehicle maintenance and servicing in line with workshop procedures. This includes oil and filter changes, brake inspections and replacements, fluid top-ups, belt and accessory checks, tyre rotations, and basic preparation for wheel alignment.
- You will diagnose and repair faults using OEM and aftermarket diagnostic tools. The role involves reading fault codes, testing sensors and actuators, tracing wiring issues, replacing defective parts, and confirming repairs through road tests or bench checks.
- The Vehicle Technician will also handle a range of mechanical and electrical repairs, including engine tune-ups, cooling system work, exhaust repairs, steering and suspension jobs, minor clutch and gearbox repairs, and servicing of electrical systems such as starters, alternators, and lighting.
- You will complete safety and inspection tasks, including pre-delivery inspections, routine safety checks, emissions tests where required, and preparation for MOT-type inspections in line with workshop and regulatory standards.
- The role also includes supporting warranty work and minor warranty claims. You will document faults, record evidence, coordinate with parts and stores teams, assist with warranty paperwork, and follow OEM return-authority procedures.
- As an Automotive Service Technician, you will maintain accurate job cards and service records. This includes recording diagnostics, labour time, parts used, serial numbers where required, test results, and clear handover notes in the workshop management system.
- You will help keep the workshop running efficiently by maintaining a clean and safe work area, taking care of tools and diagnostic equipment, supporting calibration checks, and assisting with basic workshop upkeep.
- You may also provide customer-facing support when needed, explaining faults, repair options, test results, and preventive maintenance recommendations clearly to service advisors or customers.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on workshop experience with passenger cars or light commercial vehicles. Experience in a dealership or busy independent workshop will be preferred.
- Vocational qualification in Automotive Technology, Vehicle Mechanics, or a related field. Manufacturer training, IMI units, or ASE certifications will be an advantage.
- Strong working knowledge of OEM diagnostic tools, common multimeters, wiring diagrams, service manuals, and standard workshop equipment such as hoists, torque tools, tyre tools, and brake tools.
- Practical understanding of mechanical and electrical vehicle systems, routine servicing, and safe handling of hazardous materials. Basic awareness of EV and HEV safety is preferred but not mandatory.
- Organized and reliable, with good record-keeping habits, the ability to follow written procedures, and the stamina to work workshop shift patterns.
- Clear communication skills in English for internal records, team coordination, and customer support. Arabic is helpful but optional.
