Automotive Master Technician

Key Responsibilities

• As an Automotive Master Technician, you will be responsible for the technical quality and turnaround of assigned work orders. This includes carrying out complex diagnostics, overseeing major repairs such as engines, transmissions, ABS systems, and ADAS calibration, then verifying the work through road tests or dyno checks before final sign-off.
• You will lead fault diagnosis and corrective action using advanced scan tools, waveform analysis, and OEM procedures. For intermittent or multi-system issues, you will identify the root cause, prepare a clear repair plan, complete or supervise the required repairs, and confirm the fix through proper post-repair testing.
• The role also involves handling safety-critical services, including brake system overhauls, suspension rebuilds, steering alignments, and electrical system repairs. Every job must meet legal safety requirements, workshop standards, and OEM specifications.
• Where applicable, the Master Automotive Technician will support EV and hybrid vehicle work by following high-voltage isolation procedures, using the correct PPE, checking battery systems, assisting with battery replacements, and supporting certified EV diagnostics under approved processes.
• You will also supervise workshop activity and guide other technicians. This includes allocating jobs, mentoring junior team members, reviewing workmanship, enforcing SOPs, and managing shift handovers so productivity and repair quality remain consistent.
• Accurate documentation is a key part of the role. You will complete service orders, record fault codes, capture repair evidence, log serial numbers and warranty details, and coordinate with the parts department to speed up critical spare parts, returns, and replacements.
• As a Senior Automotive Technician, you will help improve workshop reliability by reviewing repeat faults, carrying out root-cause analysis, recommending process updates or service bulletins, and working with technical support teams on complex cases.
• You will also support the customer experience by explaining technical findings clearly, preparing accurate repair estimates, assisting with warranty submissions, and representing the workshop during manufacturer or insurer audits.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on workshop experience with increasing technical responsibility. Previous experience as a Senior Technician, Automotive Master Technician, Master Tech, or Workshop Lead will be preferred.
• Recognized automotive qualification, diploma, or certificate in Vehicle Technology, along with manufacturer training or certifications such as IMI, ASE, or equivalent. EV high-voltage training will be an advantage.
• Advanced diagnostic skills using OEM-level tools, scan equipment, and oscilloscope or waveform analysis. Experience with dealer or aftermarket diagnostic suites and workshop management systems is expected. Familiarity with Snap-on tools will be preferred.
• Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge across engines, transmissions, ABS and ESP systems, ADAS calibration, HVAC, and vehicle electrical systems. The ability to read wiring diagrams and interpret technical service bulletins is essential.
• Proven leadership and coaching ability, including mentoring junior technicians, leading shift briefings, maintaining safety standards, and supporting continuous skills development within the workshop.
• Strong communication skills in English, both spoken and written, along with a customer-focused approach. Candidates should also be willing to work rotating shifts, occasional weekends, or on-call schedules when required.
